Department of Anatomy
The department of Anatomy is located in the ground floor of the academic building. It has various divisions like dissection hall, Histology laboratory, Museum, departmental library, research laboratory, departmental seminar room and demonstration rooms. All are well equipped with excellent teaching materials and audio- visual aids. Histology laboratory is well equipped with modern microscopes, histology slides and colour histology charts. Museum has good number of wet specimens, models, charts, x-ray view boxes and articulated skeletons.

Department of Physiology
The Department of Physiology at Arunai Medical College and Hospital, established in 2021, embodies the fusion of theoretical knowledge and practical application, aiming to understand the complexities of the human body. A pivotal moment in the department's history unfolded on March 14, 2022, with the commencement of the first MBBS program with 150 MBBS students. The culmination of the inaugural MBBS program was nothing short of a triumph when the first batch of MBBS students, having completed their rigorous academic journey, graduated with flying colours. Among the graduates, an impressive nine students achieved the distinction, showcasing not only their individual brilliance but also the department's dedication to academic rigor and excellence. The number of distinctions and honours has been in a increasing trend since then.The department boasts esteemed faculty leaders in cardio- vascular and respiratory physiology, exercise physiology, neurophysiology, and medical education imparting not only theoretical foundations but also mentoring students in research. This commitment fosters a collaborative and supportive academic environment, propelling students towards contributing to expanding physiological knowledge. State-of-the-art student laboratories offer hands-on experiences across various domains including Human Physiology, Clinical Physiology, Hematology, and Amphibian Physiology, bridging theory and practical application. These labs, equipped with cutting-edge resources, provide immersive experiences beyond traditional instruction, allowing students to explore the intricacies of the human body, analyze clinical scenarios, delve into the world of blood components, and observe physiological processes in a comparative context. The research laboratory in the department utilizes advanced tools such as Electromyography (EMG), electrocardiography (ECG), and electroencephalography (EEG) to dissect neuromuscular and cardiovascular systems. These technologies enable in-depth studies on muscle contractions, heart electrical activity, and brainwave patterns, enhancing research quality and exposing students to innovative technologies shaping the future of physiological inquiry. With the vision set forth in 2021, from committed teaching to standard laboratories and a roster of reputed faculties, this department provides a holistic and enriching educational experience. Dr.T Jeneth Berlin Raj MD.Phd HEAD of Department
Dr. Jeneth is a highly accomplished professional with a strong background in physiology, holding both an MD and PhD in the field. In addition to his extensive academic qualifications, he has pursued numerous certified courses, including the Basic Course in Biomedical Research from ICMR, Certified Programs in Clinical Cardiology and Diabetes Care, and a Certified Program in Arthritis Management for Clinical Physicians from Harvard Medical School. His dedication to academic excellence is further evidenced by his completion of the Health Research Methodology and Publishing Programme "Research to Publication" developed by BMJ & UCSF. With 16 years of teaching experience in medical colleges, Dr.Jeneth has made significant contributions to both medical and paramedical education. After his previously assignment as head of the department at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research institute, he is now currently employed as Head of the department at Arunai Medical College and Hospital, Tiruvannamalai. His commitment to teaching led him to complete both the Basic and Advanced Courses in Medical Education (BCME & ACME). He has also completed the Curriculum implementation and Support program (CISP 1 & 2) in NMC nodal centre. Furthermore, his passion for research has resulted in the publication of 25 research papers in reputable journals indexed in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science, covering diverse areas such as Pulmonary Function Testing, Cognitive Physiology, Diabetes, and Medical Education. He has also authored 5 book chapters in the medical field. Dr. Jeneth has got 3 copyrights adding to his credit. Dr. Jeneth is highly sought after as a resource person and has delivered numerous guest talks at academic events. His organizational skills are evident through his successful coordination of 26 scientific events. He is renowned as a mentor for both undergraduate and postgraduate doctors, guiding them in research projects under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Recognition for his contributions includes the Dr. Lalitha Kameswaran Best Research Paper Award and the Golden Doctor Award for his outstanding service in medicine. Dr. Jeneth also serves as an examiner and question paper setter for both undergraduate and postgraduate students in many institutes of national importance. He always believes in emphasizing on the importance of teaching methodologies to maintain, develop, or increase knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that a physician uses to provide services for patients, the public, and for his students.
Dr Anebaracy V, MD PROFESSOR
She is working as Professor in the Department of Physiology at Arunai Medical College and hospital till 28.01.2021.She has finished her MBBS from the prestigious Madras Medical College, Chennai (Batch of 1994) and obtained her MD in Physiology from Bharath university, Chennai. She has 13 years of teaching experience. She has published around 13 papers in various national and international NMC indexed journals. She has attended various regional, national, and international conferences and was chairperson for scientific session in 1 international and 1 national conference. She has undergone various Faculty development programmes including online course in” Competency Based Medical Education (Physiology)’’conducted by MEU, India (2020), Curriculum Implementation Support Programme 2 (2020),” Basic course in Biomedical Research (2022), Revised Basic Course Workshop in Medical Education Technology (2023). Her passion is teaching and her interest lies in helping the students to understand complex concepts of Physiology in easy and simple language. She is an active member of Association of Physiologists of Tamil Nadu. She has served as internal as well as external examiner for many university practical examinations of “The Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R medical university, R.G.U.H.S university, Karnataka, BIHER university and Pondicherry University”. Her field of interest is Cardiac Electrophysiology, Neurophysiology, Yoga therapy and Mindfulness meditation.
Dr.Ganesan T, MD ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
He is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at Arunai Medical College and hospital Completed Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.S) from Government Stanley Medical College, Chennai-600001, Tamil Nadu in June 1985. He graduated Doctor of Medicine in Physiology (M.D), Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai-600116, India in June 2003. He has 19 years of experience and his field of interest is yoga. He has 3 review articles and 2 research articles on the effect of yoga.
Dr.Vishnu Priya MD ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
She has 10 years of teaching experience in Physiology. She has previously served at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMCRI) in Pondicherry and Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital (DSMCH) in Perambalur. Her area of interest is cardiovascular physiology. Dr. Vishnu Priya completed her MD in Physiology in 2015 from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (MGMC&RI), Pondicherry, and earned her MBBS from Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Pondicherry.
