Department of community medicine celebrated “World Cancer day (february, 2023)” with the theme “close the care Gap”

The Department of Community Medicine, Arunai Medical College and Hospital under the guidance of Dr.A. Balaji, Professor and Head of Community Medicine Department celebrated the breast cancer and cervical cancer month with the permission of the Dean, Dr. D. Gunasingh and Medical Superintendent Dr.P. Kuppuraj. We conducted health education awareness programme on breast cancer and cervical cancer at Sithamoor Village and Kallipadi village and koovanur school.

The health education awareness programme was conducted on the following days and places:

1. 23.12.2022 – Sithamoor Village

2. 28.12.2022 - Kallipadi Village

3. 03.02.2023 - Government high school in koovanur

On 23.12.2022 a team consisting of CRRI (interns), Deiveegan, Arikrishnan, (Health Inspectors), Mahalingam (Health Assistant) visited RHTC Field visit area in Sithamoor Village. We conducted breast cancer and cervical cancer awareness programme to the community people of Sithamoor Village. We educated them and gave awareness about the detection and prevention of breast cancer and cervical cancer. Then we discussed about following topics:

  • Educated and insisted the people on importance of screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer
  • Explained about importance of pap smear
  • Discussed about self-breast examination
  • Educated about signs and symptoms of early stage of breast cancer and cervical cancer
  • Enumerate about the preventive and management of breast cancer and cervical cancer

  • Cancer Awareness and Health education, Sithamoor village

    On 28.12.2022 a team consisting of Dr. A. Balaji (Professor&HOD), Thirumagal (Bio-statistician), Deiveegan, Arikrishnan, (Health Inspectors), Mahalingam (Health Assistant), A.Abineshwari (Junior Assistant) visited RHTC Field visit area in Kallipadi Village. We conducted breast cancer and cervical cancer awareness programme to the community people of Kallipadi Village. We educated them and gave awareness about the detection and prevention of breast cancer and cervical cancer. Then we discussed about following topics:

  • Educated and insisted the people on importance of screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer
  • Explained about importance of pap smear
  • Taught about the causes of breast cancer and cervical cancer
  • Discussed about self-breast examination
  • Educated about signs and symptoms of early stage of breast cancer and cervical cancer
  • Enumerate about the preventive and management of breast cancer and cervical cancer
